I still remember, since my early age - my childhood, I was not interested to read any kinds of books or novels, except for comics. I was exposed to reading and writing, but I was not exposed to reading for pleasure, but more to learn how to read and write. Back then, I never expected that reading can be an interesting activity, reading seems to be something that is boring unless if it is comic.
However, when I was in primary school (if I am not mistaken, I was in 2nd Year), I have read an novel, Moby Dick, it was the first novel that I read, and surprisingly, I fell in love with it. After reading the novel, it gave me such an excitement that I could not describe with words. I learnt some new things from the novel, I never thought that people do eat whales before, but now I did realize that. I also learned that humans sometimes are greedy, they will do anything to obtain what they want, and humans too, sometimes never learn from their mistakes. That are some of the moral values that I have learnt through the novel. The novel was just a starter to develop my passion for reading. The next novel really made me fall deeply in love with reading.
The novel that has caught my attention was "Sherlock Holmes" series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This is the novel that leaves a big impact in me and makes me love to read. The novel has really changed my attitude towards reading. The part that I like the most from this novel is; it makes me think. Everytime I read the novel, somehow it makes me feel like I am the main character - Sherlock Holmes, trying to solve any mystery and puzzle in the novel, and that makes the novel seems to be alive. The excitement that I get from the novel is unimaginable. The novel series contain a lot of emotions, not only mystery but also love, friendship, and humanity. I've learnt a lot from the novel, and the novel is the reason why until now I love investigation and mystery movies. Until now, I still love the novel. How I wish I can be like Sherlock Holmes.
